MULTIPLAYER DEMO OF LOST PLANET™: EXTREME CONDITION FOR XBOX 360™

TO STORM ONTO XBOX LIVE® MARKETPLACE ON NOVEMBER 23

New CG Theater Trailer, “White Friday” Exclusive Retail Preorder Map to Kickoff Multiplayer Campaign .

SUNNYVALE, Calif, Nov. 10, 2006 — Capcom® today announced plans to release the highly anticipated multiplayer demo for its arctic sci-fi action shooter, Lost Planet™: Extreme Condition for Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, on November 23. In support of the demo, Capcom has planned a blockbuster campaign which kicks off with a cinematic trailer that will land in theaters nationwide beginning on November 17. The highly-charged 60-second spot concludes by spreading the message that the multiplayer demo will be available for free download on Xbox Live® Marketplace on November 23, Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. Additionally, November 24 will be deemed “White Friday,” as retailers launch a special preorder program that rewards advanced purchasers with access to a special version of the demo that will contain an additional multiplayer map.

Lost Planet’s highly anticipated multiplayer demo lets gamers participate in heated online matches in the “Pirate Fortress” stage with support for up to 16 players via the Xbox Live® online game service. Players will be able to select from multiple weapons, unique robotic assault vehicles called “Vital Suits” and four play modes, including Elimination, Team Elimination, Post Grab and Fugitive. Capcom debuted Lost Planet’s multiplayer gameplay at this year’s Leipzig Games Convention, where its riveting action netted top honors as the Best Xbox 360 Game at the show. In addition, the game was chosen by Tokyo Game Show attendees as one of the winners of the illustrious Future Award.

“The primary focus for Lost Planet has been on raising the bar on what we deliver to our fans, not only through the quality of the game itself but in its supplementary campaigns as well,” said Charles Bellfield, vice president, marketing, Capcom Entertainment, Inc. “In addition to an incredibly packed Collector's Edition, we are continuing to reward our most devoted fans with real, significant content that they can truly appreciate.”

In an industry first, Capcom is providing an added incentive to preorder the game with participating retailers. Beginning on “White Friday,” gamers that preorder either the standard or limited Collector’s Edition at participating retailers will receive a special token card. Each of these cards includes a unique code that will allow them to download a separate, special version of the multiplayer demo, which contains an additional “Dilapidation” map, giving them the jump on two of the eight multiplayer environments that will be available in the final game. Never before have players been able to access an exclusive map for a demo on Xbox Live through a retail driven pre-order campaign.

The CG trailer will be presented on the grand scale that only a theater environment can offer, transporting players to another world where harsh, frigid terrains come across through vivid imagery and immersive sound. The theater campaign will begin on November 17 and will continue through the end of the month in conjunction with “PG-13” and “R” rated movies including the big budget “CASINO ROYALE” Bond film. Approximately 10 million consumer impressions are expected with the trailer’s run on more than half of all screens in the country, including United Artists, Regal Cinemas, Cinemark, AMC, Edwards and more.

Combining a gripping single player campaign and intense multiplayer modes with support for up to 16 players via Xbox Live online game service, Lost Planet promises to be an epic gaming masterpiece. Taking full advantage of Xbox 360’s unprecedented power, Lost Planet will contain an unrivalled level of detail as advanced light sourcing is used to ensure a realistic presentation that enhances every explosion, smoke and particle effect. Enormous world maps unfold as players battle hostile creatures in blistering weather conditions across vast snow fields and deserted cities either on foot or in armed Vital Suits. Fostering a real-time loading system, players can expect a seamless experience that leaves them completely immersed.

Exclusively available for Xbox 360, the standard edition will carry a suggested retail price of $59.99 and the limited Collector’s Edition will be available for $69.99, while supplies last. Packaged in a custom designed SteelBook™ case featuring exclusive cover art, the premium set will include the game, art book with exclusive concept art and a heap of multimedia content. As a special bonus, gamers that purchase the Collector’s Edition will have exclusive access to an additional multiplayer map for several months before it is made available as a free download on Xbox Live Marketplace, in summer 2007. Lost Planet carries a “T” rating for teen audiences by the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) and will be available across North America on January 12.

Xbox 360 to hit shelves before Thanksgiving

Xbox 360 to hit shelves before Thanksgiving
Published by: pirrup on Wednesday, September 14, 2005

' After months of intense industry speculation, Microsoft revealed late Wednesday the launch dates for its much-anticipated Xbox 360 video game console '
In an announcement at the Tokyo Game Show, the company said the new Xbox--Microsoft's entrant in the next-generation console wars--would hit store shelves in North America on Nov. 22, in Europe on Dec. 2 and in Japan on Dec. 10. The company clearly wanted to take advantage of the holiday shopping rush just before and after Thanksgiving in the United States.

"That's what you want to do to launch a console," said International Development Group market analyst Mike Sabine. "You definitely want to have it on shelves to enjoy the Thanksgiving shopping period."

Last month, Microsoft said the Xbox 360 would come in two flavors: a base model for $299 and a souped-up version with a 20GB hard drive and wireless controllers for $399.

20 reasons the Xbox will fail in Japan (or not)

20 reasons the Xbox will fail in Japan (or not)
Published by: hq_hacker_girl on Friday, August 12, 2005

After an embarrassing rookie season in Japan, Microsoft and its latest Xbox console bounced back at its Tokyo Xbox Summit 2005, where it proudly announced every single Japanese publisher is along for the Xbox 360 ride. Ridge Racer is coming, so is Final Fantasy and mega-popular Winning Eleven. Things look upbeat.

But why should you care whether Xbox 360 succeeds in Japan? Well, it's important if you like diversity in your Xbox game collection - a range of developers are working on games in an even more varied set of genres. In short, there's a reason why Japan-powered games like Viewtiful Joe and Resident Evil 4 are on PS2 and GameCube (and not Xbox) - it's not worth releasing an Xbox version in Japan when only 500,000 have one in their homes.

There are enough reasons (we have ten) to believe things will be different next round, and Xbox 360 will eat away at PlayStation's dominance in Japan. Yet there are those who still believe Japan will never embrace a non-Japanese game console (and we've got ten reasons why these arm-chair analysts are correct.) Warm up your typing fingers as we give you ten reasons why Xbox 360 could kick ass in Japan, and ten reasons why it could bomba bomba in Kutaragi's backyard.

Microsoft Japan hosted today in Tokyo the eagerly awaited Xbox Summit 2005, an event that Xbox division head Yoshihiro Maruyama promised it will be a "product unveiling on the scale of E3."

It was expected that several Japanese publishers would confirm their Xbox 360 line-up while announcing new games and exclusive titles for the Xbox 360. We have already reported some exclusive games announced at the event but here's the complete game list.

The next appearance of the console in Asia will be at the Tokyo Game Show in September.
